20 AND OVER – ALISON HAWKINS UNDER 20 – ALISTAIR BROWN
THE DARKNESS SETS IN LIGHTNING OVER THE LAKE
A big thank you to everyone who entered the Competition, especially our youngsters. We had over 50 photographic entries, of animals, insects and flowers from gardens, wonderful views from the surrounding countryside, plus some breath-taking photos of nature at its finest and worst. When we take time out to stop and observe, there are photographic opportunities everywhere.
I would also like to thank the 30 or so villagers who took the time to study the photographs and vote for their favourites. It would not have been easy as there were so many fabulous entries.
Last but not least, thank you to the very talented Sean Wilson for donating his charming limited-edition print of the village church/post box.
Whilst the 20 and Over age category was a closely run contest, with the winning photograph being decided by a single point; in the Under 20 age category, although all photos received votes, Alistair’s kept featuring more than most and after sitting for over an hour in the dark and rain to get that shot, he thoroughly deserves it!
I hope you have all enjoyed taking part and that Photography will continue to feature in your life.
A short presentation of the prizes will take place on Monday 21st September at 5.30pm by Sean Wilson and David Webb. Weather permitting this will be outside the Church/Phone Box, the subject of Sean’s painting.
We would love to see a few of you there to give your support but please remember the latest Covid19 Rules – From Monday 14 September, when meeting friends and family you do not live with you must not meet in a group of more than 6, indoors or outdoors. Groups of 6 should still maintain social distancing and watch from a safe distance and should not mix with other groups of 6.
